The History of the VREF
The Veterans Research and Education Foundation of St. Louis is a non-profit organization that was established in 1993. The VREF has dedicated almost 30 years to helping improve the health and well-being of Veterans.
Within the last 7 years, our foundation has grown tremendously! We have grown from having just a few Principal Investigators as recent as 2017, to 43 Principal Investigators in 2025. The foundation now manages more than 43 active research programs, with several additional grants and contracts in the pipeline. We are confident in the Foundation's mission and our vision to continue to grow and prosper!
