Dr. Jeffrey Benware is a psychologist at the St. Louis VA since 2002. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at St. Louis University for over 14 years and previously worked as a Crisis Intervention Therapist. He is currently the Principal Investigator on the study ''Targeted intensive case management of Veterans at risk of suicide post inpatient hospitalization". This study focuses on Mental Health and Veteran Suicide. It is the first Mental Health study our Foundation has administered and we hope to continue to have more of this kind added to our portfolio!
Dr. Benware is originally from Chicago and currently resides in the St. Louis area. He Completed his undergraduate and master’s degree in psychology from Illinois State University. He completed his doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston and a received his master’s degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville. Dr. Benware is the Inpatient Mental Health Program Manager at the VA St. Louis Health Care System and is an adjunct Assistant Progressor at Saint Louis University. He has served as the PI for various projects in the fields of addiction and suicidality.
